Reinstalling software is very, very boring

and is most of what I’ve been up to the last few days.  Mike and I managed to get Windows XP back up and running, much to my relief – I was having horrible nightmares about a forced conversion to Vista.  But now of course I’m reinstalling, reconfiguring, etc. all my software, copying over my files (which I had thoughtfully backed up, and Mike had also extracted from the dead machine), and generally setting everything up again.  It’s a pain in the butt.  But it’s gotta be done.

So right now, not much is happening beyond training, work, and reconfiguring the damn computer.  On the other hand, I didn’t lose any data in the crash, so that’s a silver lining.  The system is also now booting a lot faster now that it isn’t contending with 3 years worth of auto-starting crap accumulation.
