Got my next month’s training schedule from my coach and wow, does it look challenging! She’s got me doing the Primavera Metric Century on the 22nd, then the Grizzly Peak Century on May 6, and is thinking about having me do the Davis Double Century on May 19 as a training ride! (Hmm…somehow when I think of riding 200 miles in a single day, “training ride” isn’t the first thing that pops to mind.)
Anyway, this weekend is relatively easy – a 4 hour ride Saturday and a 3-hour ride on Sunday, followed by another rest week. For the four-hour ride, Lorri wants me to go up Mt. Hamilton, which is apparently a very long but relatively shallow climb. It’s probably a better approximation of the Death Ride than Page Mill Road, truth be told. It’ll be fun to try a different climb for a change. Sunday I haven’t decided yet, but will probably do the Portola Loop and go up Alpine to add some additional climbing time.
I have unfortunately not managed any training this week due to cat drama – haven’t done anything Monday through Wednesday, and then Thursday and Friday are rest days – but hopefully next week will be better. I really don’t have much time to slack off if I want to be ready by July. It’s April already!
Oh, and Lorri has suggested that I swap out my saddle, as an old saddle may be causing my problems. So I went out and bought another Terry Butterfly – we’ll see if that fixes it.
