I may have to rethink this bicycle commuting thing…

Today as I was biking along 3rd Street in the final leg of my commute, a pedestrian waiting for the 3rd Street Light Rail threw an egg at me.  It bounced off my left arm and into the street, where it promptly shattered (this is how I know it was an egg).  I am unbelievably and incredibly angry at this.  I expect to be dodging cars and pedestrians, but I do NOT expect to be assaulted by random passersby.  I especially don’t expect to be assaulted by people who apparently think it’s funny to sling eggs at cyclists.  The fact that this person apparently came prepared to throw things at cyclists suggests that this will not be a one-time occurrence.

All I can say is, I hope this *&#@ motherfucker has friends, because the next time this happens, I will quietly, calmly, and reasonably pull over to the side, and just as quietly, calmly, and reasonably beat the living SHIT out of whoever the fuck it is, and dump him/her into the street to get run over as s/he so richly deserves.

That said, I may also avoid 3rd Street in the future.
