Corset nearly complete

Well, that is the first and last time I make a corset…they are beautiful, but a pain in the *(&! to make.  It is definitely couture sewing, very exacting and requiring great precision.  But it is done except for the bias-tape binding at top and bottom, and adding the black sequin lace at the top.  It’s a nice corset.

It is, however, rather laughable.  I put it on earlier today and nearly cracked up.  I looked like a pro wrestler trying to put on lace: a beautiful red silk brocade corset around a nearly nonexistent waist, with huge, muscular shoulders blooming out of the corset.  It was damn funny.  But it will go well with the overall “drag” theme of the Ride.  I just need to find some black fishnet stockings to go with it….

Anyway, tomorrow I go to a job interview, then come back and finish the corset and start in on the black-and-red skirt that goes with it.  That will probably take a day or two, as I’ll have to gather yards and yards of ribbon into ruffles to edge the petals of the skirt.  Pain in the butt, but someone’s gotta do it.

I’m hoping to finish up most of my sewing by mid next week.  I’ve invited a culinary friend over for chocolate and fudge-making, and need to clear out room for chocolate goodies, at the end of next week.

I have heard that some people get bored occasionally.  I simply can’t understand it.  There’s so much to do, and see, and try!!
