Here’s the rough sketch of my training plan, based on the fact that I did roughly 13 hours of training the week I rode Cinderella. It’s still fairly aggressive but at least it’s nowhere near as rough as the last six weeks, and I’ve had a decent rest since I had the knee issue.

Plan for the next week is to play it very much by ear – I would still like to do ALC’s “Day on the Ride” ride next weekend, which will be 82 miles long, but it all depends on how I feel after this weekend’s riding. If I’m not up for it, then I’ll skip it to go train on my own. Would be a pity to miss the chance to bring out one of my favorite tutus, but it would be even more of a pity to miss the Ride on account of an overtraining injury.

This training plan also doesn’t allow for the standard 1 rest week out of every 4 (pushes it by training 5 weeks in a row) – Curtis advised that it might be a good idea, if I start feeling tired, to cut back on the midweek rides and maybe plateau the mileage for the long rides for one of the middle weeks.

Still nervous about the whole thing, but we’ll see how it goes.

Going in on Monday to get my bike fit finalized (we made quite a few changes, including sliding my saddle forward quite a bit) and my feet measured for cycling-specific orthopedics. I’ve been having trouble with arch support in the new shoes and Curtis does orthopedics as well, so I figure it can’t hurt.
