Collapse weave shawl, bobbin lace #3

The collapse weave shawl came out BEAUTIFULLY!  Here are two photos:

Isn’t it stunning?  I LOVE the ruffled “ribbons”.

Hard to believe that that’s “just” plainweave, but it is!

And, I finished my third bobbin lace bookmark.  Here is a Very Bad Photo, but you can get the general idea…

I fly home today, so I’m not starting any new projects.  Instead I’ll be roving through Laura’s voluminous swatch collection and library, looking for inspiration, information, and good reference texts to add to my library later (after I have a job again).

This has been fun!!  I can’t imagine a vacation I’d rather have than this one.  🙂

It may be “just” plain weave, but when you get such wonderful texture from it, “just” isn’t the right word. “Enhanced” maybe? That sort of effect is why plain weave is still one of my favorite structures!

The photo really doesn’t do the shawl justice – we should have taken a photo of you wearing it – maybe when you get home…. : )
    Cheers,

I have a simple straight tie-up 4 harness loom. Seeing what you can do by just alternating the materials w/a tabby is unbelieveable. I am very excited to try a collapse weave on my simple, little loom. Thank you for the inspiration.
