More photos than you can shake a stick at

Today we got the lining into the dress and the sleeves onto the coat.  Sharon kept the coat so she could add interfacing, I took the dress home and will be sewing on the lace and pearls this week.  (I’ll also be weaving the double-happiness ribbon, once my dobby box comes back from AVL.)

I’ve decided to change the bodice lace to a solid piece.  It looked fine on the dress form, but after seeing it on me, I think it will look better as a single piece.  I’ve also added a little more lace in the sleeve, as you can see in the sleeve photo.  And the back needs considerably more elaboration, but I’m going to baste it in and leave it for now – I won’t need it for the photo shoot and I may need the time for other things.

So, without further ado, here are the photos!  (The pearls aren’t on yet – I’ve just basted on the lace – but visualize a scalloped line of pearls, one in  each frill of the lace scallops.)

Tomorrow: a frenzied orgy of lace-and-pearl stitching.  Plus, Mike and I are going to go celebrate our fourth anniversary at La Fondue!

I agree with you. I like the solid lace better and I think that more lace on the sleeve helps to balance out the bodice. It’s beautiful fabric and a stunning dress. Happy Anniversary.
