A marvelous occasion! Our cat, The Fuzz, just reached his 20th birthday!
Here is a picture of the birthday boy:
In many ways, it’s remarkable that he’s reached this milestone. He’s had various health issues in the past – starting with hyperthyroidism when he was five or six – and has been battling IBD (irritable bowel disease) for many years. (It put him into the kitty ICU when he was sixteen – that was a near brush! – but with daily medication and some dietary changes, it’s been under control the last four years.) And in his youth, he had a penchant for chewing through cables of all sort – phone cords, headphone cables, you name it! – and actually chewed through the power cord for a chest freezer, despite all measures to keep him away from it! It’s a wonder he didn’t get electrocuted.
And, despite having reached quite a remarkable age for a cat, he’s still in excellent spirits, greeting us when we come in and out, demanding treats, and (last night) actually chasing another cat out of the yard!
So happy day to the birthday boy – and many more!

congratulations to The Fuzz! He looks marvelous.
I too have a cat with significant IBD. He won’t eat the recommended prescription food. We have him on steroid shots every few months but can’t do that too frequently. What daily meds is The Fuzz taking?
TIA

He’s on a pretty high dose of prednisone, administered as a liquid prep (because it’s easier than a pill) once/day. No prescription food, but a grain-free, wet food diet – we just read the labels on the can and if it’s got wheat gluten, oat bran, etc. in it, we don’t buy it.
I’ve found that he likes a variety of foods – so perhaps your cat is just bored of the prescription food? Anyway, the Fuzz has been doing a lot better after we took grains out of his diet, so I’d suggest trying that if you aren’t already.
