Loosening up the leaves

Just got back from Sharon’s, with a bunch of minor adjustments to the fit.  I also found that my painstaking understitching was  too close to the seam – 1/16″ where it should have been 1/8″ – and will have to be redone.  There’s quite a bit of alteration to be done, but I’m too tired today to start in on all those items; I’ll get them done tomorrow.

But I’m sure what you’re really dying to know is: what about the leaves?

Well, after thinking it over and consulting with Sharon, I’ve decided that I like multiple leaves better after all.  Sharon had the excellent idea of loosening up the curve a bit and also partially randomizing the sizes of the leaves, to give a more tumbly feel to the leaves.  Here is what we hastily pinned together:

leaves, partially randomized
leaves, partially randomized

This is absolutely not the final version – in fact I don’t like this particular configuration much – but the “feel” is closer to what I wanted.  So I think it’s the right creative direction.  So I will be cutting out some more leaves and playing with color, placement, and size tonight.

Watch this space!
