Another gloriously un-committed weekend

I nearly titled this post “Another gloriously idle weekend”, except of course that I’m rarely idle! And today has been no exception…I was up a trifle before dawn, did twenty minutes of yoga, then plunged into dyeing the blank for the phoenix wall hanging. I mixed up seven concentrations of scarlet dye, fading from intense scarlet into a pale pinkish orange, and painted the blank. Now I have it on a heating pad for the next four hours, following which I’ll rinse it, dry it, and hopefully be weaving with it later today!

I have also draped a basic bodice muslin to clear the rust out of my memory, and am preparing to drape the dress for the foundation muslin, which will stabilize the stretchy crimp fabric in my mockup. Later today I’ll also clean up the studio some more (there’s a big box of stuff that needs to go out to the garage), write some more book blog posts, and do some weaving. I’m hoping I can finish weaving and scrunch-dyeing the phoenix wall hanging over the long weekend, following which I can move into the next section, a series of samples for the Fine Threads Study Group.

Hallelujah! Some actual free, un-committed time, which I can devote to the studio. I want to dance, I’m so happy!

More later, hopefully with photos!
