So close…and yet so far.

jacquard loom on truck
Amazing Grace!

That, dear ones, is Amazing Grace, nestled snugly away in her packaging. (Which appears to be somewhat the worse for wear…I hope she’s happy and undamaged.)

You’ll notice, however, that there are no thrilling photos of her in the garage. That’s because this picture was taken about two seconds before the driver realized that she was too big to fit on the truck lift gate. About twenty minutes of head-scratching later, his dispatcher told him to give up, and he drove off again, with Grace still aboard.

Someday, my loom will come…

Oh dear! Hope they figure out a way to use leverage to unload it. I can imagine how frustrating that is for you!

How did they get it IN the truck?

I’m guessing they had a loading dock, with the floor of the dock level with the floor of the truck. Unfortunately, no loading dock at our house…

I had problems with delivery of a large air compressor. Told them I needed a lift gate truck and they sent a truck without one. I wonder about the communication of special delivery instructions between the drivers/trucking companies/loading docks, etc. Especially when delivering to a residential address that isn’t likely to have unloading equipment. Though suppose not too many folks order such things for them to learn to deal with problems ahead of time.
But it is frustrating. We are all waiting with bated breath to hear the end of your story.
I had to hire another company to take delivery at their place, put it on their truck. Then they sent out 5 or 6 guys to unload the 750 pound item by hand! I had a hard time watching since it seemed so dangerous. Both for them and for the compressor.
Hope you have a happy ending soon!

This looks like it is a lift gate truck. Was the loom to long to sit on the gate? You might have to rent a fork truck to lift off the truck and place it in your garage. Good luck. You must be so anxious.
