128 pounds, 11 ounces

This was almost a record year for the chocolate factory! Four helpers and I made 110.8 pounds of first-quality chocolates, and 17.9 pounds of cosmetically-challenged “seconds”. Many thanks to Susan, Chris, Allegra, and Edie – your assistance was essential.

Here are some photos of the finished chocolates:

If you’ve wondered what 128 pounds of chocolates looks like, wonder no more! Here is this year’s chocolate production:

128 pounds of chocolates!
128 pounds of chocolates!

Actually it is slightly less than 128 pounds of chocolate: we found three more boxes of chocolates after I took the photo! But what’s another 5-10 pounds of chocolate, between friends?

We finished making the chocolates on Saturday. Sunday, some friends came over to help me pack the chocolates into boxes – a five-hour process even with ten people helping!

Here’s what one box looks like:

And here’s what (almost) 80 boxes look like:

After the individual boxes were packed, we put most of them into shipping boxes, to go to my 42 Chocolates for Charity donors as well as to friends and family. Here’s the giant wall of boxes:

So all that’s left is to mail the packages. I wonder if they’ll close up the post office when they see me coming? The postal employees certainly remember me, though I only come in once a year. 🙂
