Day Six

Day Six saw us passing through Santa Barbara, where I finally got to meet a friend and fellow Techer, George Williams, who was kind enough to bring me some Cytomax (my favorite brand of electrolyte drink) when I ran out. It was great to meet him, and also great to ride down the lovely coast into Ventura. Only one day left!

Day Six takes us from Lompoc to Ventura, a journey of 85 miles. It’s a relatively easy day, though, with a long, relatively gentle climb in the morning followed by a flat, beautiful day near the coast (where it’s typically nice and cool).

On Day Six I finally got to meet an email friend and fellow Tech alum, George Williams, which was great – we’ve been corresponding for years but this was the first time we’ve met in person.

Highlights of Day Six include Paradise Pit, which is operated by volunteers from Santa Barbara – they serve ice cream, cookies, strawberries, and other tasty stuff to the riders. After a week of Clif Bars, that’s tasty indeed.

Gopher When I took down my tent in the morning, a gopher greeted me! It had tunneled up under my tent during the night.
Mom and Dad Love ya, Mom & Dad.

Scenery We pass through some utterly gorgeous scenery on Day 6.
Scenery ...it's hard to explain, really, how beautiful the Ride is.

Rest Stop Rest Stop 1.
Rest Stop Sign Yes, reality TV shows hit ALC.

LA San Francisco Sign Take a closer look: in one direction, San Francisco, in another direction, Los Angeles. I wonder if that rider is checking his map?
Coast ...but again, the scenery was beautiful, at least.

George Me and George.
Ice Cream Rider enjoying ice cream at Paradise Pit...

Ice Cream Scoopers ...and the enthusiastic scoopers serving us.
Rest Stop and Today's Tutu The outfit of the day, at Rest Stop 2. They had to hold us there nearly an hour due to CHP route closure.

Paradise Pit Paradise Pit is not sponsored by ALC - it is staffed entirely by volunteers with donated goods. Thank you Santa Barbara!!
Get Lucky "Viagra man" turns into "Get Lucky" man!

Coast Riders along the coast.
Rest Stop Rest Stop 4, gussied up as "Studio 4".

Tien and Models "Studio 4" contained some seriously hot models...
Hot Boy ...woo!
