Yesterday I was slated for a 3.5 mile ride, so I went back to my old haunt, Page Mill Road, and went up it. I had been avoiding it for the last few months because I’d been off the bike for so long, but decided I wanted a challenge – so up I went, and while I was a bit slower than usual (5 min over 1.5 hours of climbing), I managed the climb quite handily. I was pretty tired after that, but partly that’s because I hadn’t been eating enough – on my coach’s advice I’ve been eating about 200 calories/hour (I burn about 400 calories/hour) to create a deficit and let me lose some weight.
I’m a little sore this morning, but not too bad – and today’s ride is only an hour, which is practically nothing. That will give me plenty of time to recover before my weight-training workout on Monday.
Nothing in the news, creatively speaking – been winding the warp for my learning piece, and doing some desultory knitting.
