Cleaning house

Today I did something that I haven’t done in (literally) months: clean house!  Three hours of hard work by me and B. has gotten the apartment from “good Lord, these people have serious psychiatric problems” to merely “messy”.  I am not a neat person at the best of times, being generally much more interested in my current projects than in cleaning up after old ones, and typically don’t bother clearing up mess unless it’s actively preventing me from doing whatever I want to do.  As a result, all horizontal surfaces are usually covered with piles of stuff (it doesn’t help that B. and I have pretty limited space), and I rarely have people over because I don’t want them seeing the ungodly mess.

But even I have limits, and after things reached the point where it was getting hard to get around all the piles of stuff  in the living room, I proposed to B. that we spend three hours cleaning this weekend.  And it worked!  It was so successful that we may try this again next weekend, until the house is in something approximating a livable state.  This is working much better than our previous attempts, so hopefully we can keep it up.  I would eventually like to be able to invite someone over without worrying too much about the untidiness.

So today I did not get a whole lot of weaving done.  I have been skeining up yarn for dyeing – the dyes are arriving tomorrow so I can start dyeing tomorrow evening – and I have woven about another 3′ of samples and scarf.  This scarf is weaving up at lightning speed, about 48 inches an hour, which amazes me.  I’m accustomed to weaving at about 45 epi/40 ppi and so weaving at 24 ppi goes by in a flash!  So I expect to finish it up tomorrow sometime.

Off to bed!  I have to be up early to work on Weavolution stuff.  Not to mention work, which has gone from very very slow to a state of near-panic (i.e. very very busy).  Hopefully the two won’t keep me so busy I don’t have time to weave!

Check out the side bar of my blog. I have put up the Barack Obama kit with a link to Weavolution. You might want to say something and/or link back to me. Everything is an experiment. Let’s hope this generates some $$ for you. I am open to suggestions if you think I should edit it.
