The whole nine yards

Yes, that’s right!  I’m now at the 9-yard mark for the fabric, an average of 2/3 yard per day over the last several days.  And I have 19 days left before I leave for my visit with Laura Fry, so I am going to make the most of them!  I am hoping to reach the 20-yard mark, although it will definitely be a stretch.  I am certainly going to try to make the 16 yard mark, and think I have a good chance of doing that, even though it’s about 1/2 yard per day.

Meanwhile, I have found a seamstress who works in the couture industry and is willing to advise me on how to proceed with my dress.  This is great! I am running out to see her tonight, to show her what I’ve got and ask for advice on boning, fitting, fabric, and underlining.  I am hoping to finish muslin #3 this weekend.

This weekend I am running up to the Alemany Farmer’s Market in San Francisco to see whether they have fresh sour cherries yet.  I had an EXCELLENT run with my sun-cooked strawberry jam two weeks ago (the jam is intensely strawberry, and not too sweet) and would love to make a sun-cooked sour-cherry jam, too.  And I will do another batch of strawberry jam this weekend, no matter what.  That stuff is dang good.

It’s early in the season for sour cherries, but I figure if I check back every other week or so, I’ll be bound to catch at least some part of the season.  And if not, there’s always next year…
