Silk purse

Spent some time today sewing my Christmas gifts, with this result:

Hand-sewn silk purse

I like it! It’s perhaps a trifle plain on the flap, but when I tried attaching a button to it to give it some visual focus, it didn’t work well – the shank of the button made the button floppy where it should have been tight against the fabric.  So I took it off.

I’m a bit amused by having cooked it up entirely out of my stash.  I bet you never knew I was capable of such subtle colors, especially after so many AIDS Rides!

Tomorrow morning I’ll be tackling the other purse – this one is going to be special, but I can’t tell you why because the recipient reads this blog.  So the photos will have to wait until after Christmas!
