Design selections

I spent a good chunk of this morning drafts and sewing patterns – first modifying the Handwoven.net drafts to make them weavable, then printing them out and looking at them side by side with the patterns I was considering.

Here are the four that stood out to me:

A fitted blouse with contrast cuffs and piping

Tunic with contrast sleeves

For the contrast sleeves and cuffs in the first two, I will probably just use the opposite side of the fabric.  Alternately, I could dye the fabric a different color for the contrast, but I think that might be too much contrast.

Here is a nice loose-fitting tunic:

And here is another jacket:

Here I would probably use a black and white fabric for the main body, and dye the contrast collar pieces blazing red.

I’m still mulling over these choices; in particular, the two jackets may get axed as being complicated and requiring professional cleaning.  Since this is to be office wear, and I loathe going to the dry cleaners, home washable is good.

Off to work!  I’m going to take my design options with me, and contemplate them at lunch.
