Well, I’ve finished my database design (thanks Laritza for the tool) and have sent it off for review to two people who know much more about database design than me. Now I’m turning my attention to the front-end of this project. I’m familiar with HTML, and could design it using HTML tables, but since tables are passe these days (and this site is meant to showcase my talents with web design) I’m going to try doing the layout with CSS. So I’ve bought a book on basic CSS and am reading up on that.
I’m also going to lay out the wireframes (basic design of each page) today. I probably won’t bother doing it in Visio, but will sketch it out on a couple pieces of paper. It’s going to be a simple UI – I can always reshuffle it afterwards, after I write the PHP and MySQL queries that populate the fields.
I’ve also woven off another yard or so of the brown-and-tan warp. It’s going slowly, mostly because I’ve been distracted by this software project. Nonetheless I figure I should finish the jacket yardage sometime this week. I have another shawl to weave off on the same warp, then it’s on to the next project, which will either be a painted warp or echo weave.
Whee! What fun!
