Big chunk o'rock

No, I’m not talking about a diamond engagement ring – something even better!  I found a granite fabrication place on Craigslist that is going out of business and willing to sell me a large slab of granite on the cheap – $140 for a 33″ x 55″ piece!  This is WAY cheaper than the $400 I was quoted for a similar piece of marble (which is usually cheaper than granite) last year.  Now I can replace that scratched-up marble slab that I’ve had since college, and have a much better surface on which to temper chocolate.

Of course it probably weighs about 200 pounds, but I’m sure I’ll figure out *some* way to get it into the house…might have to invite some friends over, though.  🙂  I’m going to pick it up tomorrow, right after a doctor’s appointment.

Yay!

Very cool…. There’s something about fiber & stone that both hugely appeal to me, though they might not seem to go together for some…. And then of course there’s chocolate, which requires no explanation!!
