Candied ginger, sewing patterns, and PHP/MySQL

Been working on a batch of candied ginger the last few days.  I’m not sure it’s really better than commercially candied ginger, but it has a hint of honey in it that I really enjoy, and the process of making it has been fun.  I think I may buy more young ginger at the Alemany Farmer’s Market next week and make a bigger batch for the chocolate spree.  I could use commercial ginger, but it’s so much fun making my own…

…speaking of which, the brandied cherries have been coming out marvelously.  So marvelously that I’m having trouble convincing myself to keep any around for chocolate experimentation in November…yum!  Looking forward to turning them into chocolate-covered fondant cherries.

I have also been paging through Burda magazine, and really really like their sewing patterns.  So much so that I’m seriously considering subscribing to the magazine…although, I already own lots of patterns, have pattern-making software, and want to learn to design my own.  Life is too damn short, and there’s so much I want to do!  I wish I could quit my job and just devote my life to craftwork.  (Hey, we can all dream, can’t we?)

Anyway, that’s all for the future.  Today my plans are to study PHP and MySQL some more (doesn’t enthuse me, but has to be done for work), and continue setting up my loom for weaving.
