Bridal samples

I’ll write more about CNCH once I get home (I have a very flaky internet connection right now), but I just had to post photos of my workshop samples!  The warp is a 30/2 silk/cashmere blend, with a variety of wefts.  But there is one clear winner:

I got the double happiness symbols right the first time!  They’re legible and beautiful in the gold on white.

With the eternity knots, I got mixed results, but the gold on white turned out to be another winner:

The eternity knots were a little more obvious on the reverse side:

Eternity knots, white on dark

I like the look of white knots on a darker background better than the look of darker knots on a white background, but of course, being a wedding dress, I want a predominantly white look.  And my favorite of all of them is the gold eternity knots on white…so that is what I will weave for the body of the gown.  It does make the fabric a little stiffer, but a little more body will be good for the coat, and it is gorgeous.

So I will get married in white and cloth-of-gold – I think it will be stunning.
