I’m neither a scientist nor a scientist wannabe, but thank you for posting this. When I took physics in high school, there were only two girls in my class of about 30-35 students. Guidance counselors tried to discourage girls from taking physics, calculus, and trig, b/c “girls just don’t take those classes.” I struggled mightily in that freakin’ physics class (b/c my mind doesn’t work in pulleys & inclined planes), but I felt that I had stood up for the concept that girls can take any damn class they want.
For the record, I graduated from HS in 1955. Things really have changed.
