Logo

I’ve been plowing ahead on my new business website, where I’ll be teaching online classes to help people master their craft – go from beginner to professional-quality work through the creative process and exercises that I outline in the book. So far I’ve got an outline of the content I want, and a basic WordPress site, but there is still a ton of work left to do to write the content and design/create the site. However, I do have a logo now, and that’s a start!

Here’s what I think will be the final logo:

"Creating Craft" logo
“Creating Craft” logo

I didn’t develop it myself – instead, I hired a logo designer via Upwork (a site for hiring freelancers). I’m still discussing things with her, but I’m pretty pleased with the end result. I had been hoping for a logo image that communicated “craft” and “craftsmanship” better, but neither she nor I have been able to think of something that describes “craft” without also implying a specific medium. If you have an idea, I’d love to hear it!

your idea for classes is good, as you are a master craftsperson. BUT!! do not use brown in your logo. all kinds of references on line to say that the color brown is not a particularly good choice!! 🙂

I like this logo very much. It is clean, simple, and yet the door of ”what” is left open.

I really like the cleanliness of the logo. To me, craft means something handmade or made by an individual. That is in place just by the word “craft” in the logo. However, if a word or two were in a cursive font or handwritten, that may visually imply something that was made by an individual.
The only other visual I can think of is a hand or pair of hands. Though that may muddy up the logo.
Regardless of the logo, I suspect folks will be drawn to the website and products for your name and reputation, which are held in high regard in weaving craft groups that I follow online.
    Looking forward to your classes!

Thanks Rebecca, Phil, Dee Dee, and Louise!

I am rethinking the logo colors…and trying to figure out how to put more of a “master craft” touch into it. I like the idea of using a more craft-like style…will continue working on it!

Thanks and keep the comments coming!

Hi. I like the logo, but in answer to your question, could you incorporate hands into the logo to suggest craft?

Good idea, thanks! I’m investigating that now (for a second round logo – I’m pressed for time, so for now, I’m going with this one. But I am hoping to upgrade later).

I think it would be cool if you could have a logo that could be applied to your weavings like the tapestry studios and weavers do. So keeping the lines clean is a good idea.

Good point! I could reuse that image logo for my work if I needed to. Thanks!
