Finished doing up another batch of Sabracron dye samples in search of a good indigo, but didn’t get one out of the mix. Got some beautiful shades (including a good steel gray), but not indigo. So I will be starting another batch of dye samples later today, or perhaps tomorrow.
Have also bought ingredients for quite a bit of jam, as I’ve decided to give jams/jellies/marmalades to the assorted relatives this season. Today I bought several pounds of figs, a couple pounds of Satsuma mandarin oranges, a couple pounds of Meyer lemons, and a bagful of quinces. I plan to turn them into various jams/jellies over the course of the next week. It may require some experimentation – I want to get a lemon marmalade that doesn’t have the intense bitterness of my last try – probably chopping up the peel separately and blanching the peel will be necessary. I also plan to get some limes and try lime marmalade. (See, I only pretend to give people Xmas gifts. It’s really just my way of dumping my little experiments on unsuspecting people.)

Tien, I’m sending you via email a couple pages from my Ball Canning book with marmalade recipes. Hopefully they might be a good reference for you.
